Théo Mercier Every stone should cry

Ten years after his first solo exhibition, Theo Mercier returns to the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature. Sculptor and set designer, his work questions the relationship between an artwork and its environment. He seeks to create a choreography of the gaze for the viewer. In his installations, he combines his own work with found objects and pieces of folk art found in flea markets. The diversity in his production is a reflection of the world today and its globalisation, in some way, an archaeological site of the future. Setting these objects within the museum gives them a new meaning, whilst the strangeness, poetry and humour create unusual associations. In the museum’s rooms, like a modern curiosity cabinet, Theo Mercier creates a setting where the permanent collection interacts with his creations.
