Cécile B. Evans "Amos' World"

A Belgian-American artist based in London, Cécile B. Evans (1983) centres her research around the significance and role of emotions in our contemporary societies, as well as the growing influence that new technologies have on our feelings and actions. At 49 Nord 6 Est - Frac Lorraine, she presents a set of architectural video installations entitled AMOS’ WORLD (2017-2018). The project, divided into three episodes, follows an architect named Amos and the inhabitants of a post-war brutalist-style subdivision. Visitors will first meet Amos and some of the tenants, each one of them being a part of the building’s larger infrastructure. They will then discover a parodied vision and understanding of an architect, who is in fact entirely disconnected from the inhabitants’ needs in the spaces he creates.
