Exhibition - Amazonie Le Chamane et la pensée de la forêt

Shimmering ornaments made of feathers, blowguns, bows and arrows with curare, everyday objects, musical instruments, or paraphernalia for taking hallucinogens used by shamans, the exhibition presents nearly 350 objects, 56 photographs, 4 contemporary works and many old and recent films displayed over 700m2. The collection is a testimony of Native American cultures as they were observed from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century. Ethnocide, impoverishment, exploitation of resources, the Amazonian populations’ testimonials also bring up the question of their safeguarding and the disappearance of their forests. The exhibition offers an immersive experience thanks to the visual richness of the works and objects presented, as well as sound installations that recreate the atmosphere of the amazonian forest.
