Passages Anna-Eva Bergman

The Museum of Fine Arts in Caen and the Hans Hartung-Anna-Eva Bergman Foundation are presenting for the first time in France an exhibition dedicated to the works Anna-Eva Bergman created in the wake of her trips to northern Norway in 1950 and 1964. The discovery of the landscapes of the Lofoten Islands and Finnmark were a real revelation for the artist. In reinventing the bonds that linked her to her native country to open them to a symbolic and imaginary form, Anna-Eva Bergman creates her own language, composed of recurring motifs, turned to abstraction - fjords, glaciers, boats or horizons -, that it declines in large series, drawn or painted, where the painting and the sheets of metal mix, in the quest for a dematerialized space, inhabited by a singular light.
